Two wine lovers on a mission to bring Hungarian wines closer to the world

We are two friends who not long ago decided over a nice bottle of red to introduce more people to Hungarian wines. Simply because we think they are great! We wanted to keep it authentic, original and most of all fun so just another 'informative' website with colourful facts and descriptions was out of the question. What then?

Eger - Tokaj

Two of the most famous wine regions in Hungary are the destinations in this tour. Eger is famous for its red blends (you may have heard about Bikavér - Bull's Blood, not entirely different in production from Chateauneuf-du-Pape from the Southern Rhone in France). Eger has gone through considerable development in the last 20 years. . .

Badacsony – Somló

The two wine regions visited on this tour are not as historical and well-known internationally, but what they lack in history they more than make up in quality, originality and local popularity. Both regions are small and centered around extinct basalt volcanic mountains that provide for excellent terroirs. . .

“The best thing to do to understand the wine is to actually come and see where it comes from, where the wine is born.” – John Kolasa, Bordeaux winemaker legend

Hungarian wines
Hungarian wines are world famous. In Hungary, that is. We think because we love them so much it is impossible that the rest of the world does not know of them. It is true that we have one of the oldest vineyard classification system and we used the technique of making botrytised dessert wines well before the Germans or the French. But do we have what it takes to be one of the great wine nations? Come and decide for yourself. The red and wine way.
